So now you’ve found out it’s 8000 square feet and it’s $60 a square foot. Too big and way too expensive! So you’ve wasted your time and you’ve wasted the realtor’s time.

The release addresses the display issues caused by updates to long descriptions for records and it provides support for long text in the keyword sections. It improves the labels for lesser used record types.

Upgrading to 1.07 won’t immediately fix any display issues the user was having. The user must refresh the contact and then save it again. The next time they view the record, the display issues will be addressed.

Any user wanting to upgrade from 1.03 to 1.07 must first upgrade to 1.05, otherwise they will lose their list of .tel names. Upgrading from 1.05 or 1.06 to 1.07 will not result in the loss of .TEL names.

The easiest way to upgrade is to browse to http://hornet.tel on the Blackberry, click the download link, then click either the Storm or OS 4.2+ link (Blackberry users should know the difference). The link will ask if they want to download the application. Just say Yes and follow the instructions. A restart is required to complete the installation.

When I searched for Contractor, it brought up loads of results with contractor.tel coming out on top.  It has a nice feature of any of the subdomains under contractor.tel will show up slightly indented below it.

The Advanced Search had the handy feature of letting me search by “Where”.  When I put in Calgary, it gave me 346 hits and Calgary.tel was #1.

It shows the utility of having all your contact data in one place and apparently the added benefit of using it to pick up your local health practitioner.

My line is always – “dot tel – it’s useful, not sexy” – maybe I’m going to have to change that to “it’s useful and sexy”.

Qwista – http://www.qwista.com/eng – it indexes all the DNS entries. It has a mobile version that worked well on the Blackberry. You can choose to search for business or individuals.

DotTelFinder.com – http://www.dottelfinder.com/directory/ – it is an opt in directory that has a basic listing that is free and a premium listing that is $2.55 one time. Dottelfinder aggregates tweets about .tel and also aggregates news coming from Telnic and some prominent .tel blogs (including this one!).

Jepaa – http://www.jepaa.com/ – it too indexes the DNS. It’s a bit slower than the other two.

Telnic will be launching TelPages – http://www.telpages.com/ – soon.

Dottelcentral.com – http://www.dottelcentral.com – is a yahoo style browseable directory that is opt-in. The nice thing about this directory is that all the .tel names included in it, are fleshed out.

In these directories you may stumble across a company or person who is doing something you are interested in – just like a Google search – but drilled down to their essential contact details.

According to One Vancouver  the community portal for .TEL in Vancouver, BC activity levels around .TEL have increased dramatically over the past few weeks. One Vancouver seeks to create a focal point for different parties interested in .TEL. Partners currently involved include mobility stores, a business network, search engine specialist and even an national coffee chain.

The group’s activity is centred on getting the word out to people in the local community – raising awareness about .tel and what it means to local business. There are speaking engagements, exhibits, broad based advertising including billboards, television and radio, organised meet ups and highly targeted advertising based at specific industries in the area.

By joining forces, the One Vancouver partners have managed to reach a large local audience and get people talking about .TEL. The group have a number of programs already underway and a long list of activities planned for the coming months to keep the dialogue continuing within the local business community.

We just couldn’t come up with a way of marketing to them that didn’t sink us into tawdriness.

Well it looks like we are too late – they have discovered dot tel without our help.

Anyone who is on Twitter has a large number of “working girls” following them.   A review of the tweets that Dot Tel Finder aggregates http://www.dottelfinder.com/tweets/ shows two such ladies who believe .tel would be an asset to their business.

Some Googling on this particular demographic of  Twitter users shows that they are early adopters of all technologies as their job mandates the need for constant promotion and accessibility.

It seems that any sole proprietorship has the same needs – you have to constantly market yourself in different arenas and be available to clients through a myriad of channels.

So if  Twookers have discovered .tel ,  why  haven’t  you?
